Artist Statement

2009-05-27 15:00:16 by SuperAppendixMan

I see that a lot of people here are disappointed by the new widescreen layout. It's not a bad change or anything, just might take a little getting used to. But in the end, it's a change for the better. It's a move forward, a maturing, so to speak, of Newgrounds.

Well, I am not a master debater, so I decided to communicate my point through a better medium: art game. Sure, the term art game in and of itself is a vague term, but for those that don't know, it refers to a game with more artistic meaning than what is on the surface. And that is what "Widescreen Layout Fun" is. On the surface, it is not more than a simple cock joke, a phallus that erects in widescreen and droops flaccid in normal mode. Gee, I wonder what that could symbolize? Surly, for the average person, it could simply be a statement of "The widescreen layout is better". Doesn't take much digging to find that meaning, but, as with all good art, this submission operates on multiple levels.

A boner is a symbol of maturity. Sure, kids can get them too, but they have no idea what's going on with them, nor what they are truly for. Newgrounds is a teenager now, yet it seems to have blossomed late, sites like Youtube which are much younger have hit puberty (widescreen) earlier than NG. It's about time we hit puberty too.

However, just like the young male first beginning his ascent into manhood, Newgrounds is gonna have its fair share of voice cracking and acne. The layout isn't perfect yet, but that does not mean it won't get there eventually, it just has to pass through puberty first. Slowly but surly, our beloved site will grow up. Its a gradual process, but one thats for the better in the long run. And who knows, with the site growing up, maybe NG will get a girlfriend? I hear Kongregate is single.

All it takes is a little bit of support from its fan-ily, and perhaps some acne gel, and NG will be just fine

Nice, I haven't seen anyone else use the stage size in a more creative way.
The Silly Blob however, it confuses the hell out of me. (but then again, all sorts of physics do)
Tell me, what does the blob code look like?
